Following many requests by planners, the UKAWP offers additional support in the form of Business Tools. Essentially, business tools are documents, products and services which should be beneficial and helpful to new and established independent wedding planning businesses. There are many templates, procedures and equipment which the founders of UKAWP have had to work their way through and find over the years they have been in business but would like to make it a little easier and more straightforward in the future. We are keen to develop more services and products over time so do let us know what you are missing and we will certainly consider it:

  Terms & Conditions/Business Contract @ £150 for Members/Students of the UKAWP, £180 Non-Members

The Terms & Conditions/business contract for use between a company and its clients is vitally important to all businesses. Suitable for small, independent wedding planning businesses, these Terms & Conditions have been drawn up by the founders of UKAWP, drawing on their extensive wedding planning experience, and, of course, in conjunction with a solicitor to ensure a legally sound, practical and comprehensive set of Terms & Conditions which will provide security for both the planner and its clients. When compared to the cost of hiring a lawyer independently, this offers excellent value for money at only £150.

The contracts (and any variations thereof which are made by purchasers) remains copyright of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners Ltd and, therefore, distribution is only allowed to the purchaser’s client. Copying and publication of this contract is forbidden.

  6 Month Intensive Mentoring for Wedding Planners

Starting up a business is a tough and demanding challenge and setting up a wedding planning business is no exception. The early years are very hard and a successful business needs lots of support. We have just a small number of mentoring sessions available for new (less than two year old) businesses with a director or one of our ambassadors.

The sessions are led by you. In short we ask from the outset how we can help you and each session moves forward on this basis, with goal setting a key element. Generally speaking most mentoring clients wish to discuss a combination of the following subjects and issues:

  • Pre launch advice: your branding, website, marketing.
  • Services and Pricing: are you offering the correct services enabling maximum profit?
  • The sales process: how do you currently handle customers from enquiry stage through consultation and securing the booking?
  • Outsourcing: recognising when and what to outsource to ensure your are more productive?
  • Planner envy: how to ensure you recognise your own strengths and play to them, rather than feel jealous of what others appear to be achieving?
  • Event logistics: walking you through your first proposal, advising on complex bookings, general advice on wedding logistics.
  • Plus anything else that comes up throughout our time together

This service is available only to those who have completed the UKAWP Business Practicalities course plus all UKAWP members. This is to ensure that a firm grounding in the basics of the career is already met. The service can start immediately following completion of a training course and before launch if required. It is not essential that those taking up the mentoring service are members of the UKAWP.

Your mentoring will include the following:

  • Initial questionnaire for you to complete prior to our first session.
  • Month 1: Skype call to get to the nitty gritty of how we can help you (2 hours)
  • Months 2-6: Monthly Skype calls working on pre agreed topics and goals (1 hour each)
  • Email access between sessions plus telephone/ Skype at agreed times for urgent issues

Investment:

  Freelance Staff Contract @ £120 for Members/Students of the UKAWP, £140 Non-Members

If you are employing staff even for very short periods of time, it is crucial that you have a contract which protects both parties and makes clear certain obligations concerning confidentiality, invoicing, responsibility for tax/NI and insurance to name but a few. Suitable for small independent wedding planning businesses, the Directors of UKAWP have drawn up a freelance staff contract drawing on their knowledge and experience of hiring ad hoc freelance staff both in the office for short periods of time and on-site at weddings. The contract has been prepared in conjunction with an employment lawyer to ensure that it covers all the key legal aspects. This contract is not to be used as a replacement for a permanent or fixed term employment contract.
