Destination Weddings – Elegant Puglia
11th April 2018

We are delighted to bring you a gorgeous wedding organised by our Destination Ambassador and International Wedding Planner Elisabetta White.
Katy and Ed are a gorgeous British couple living in sunny Dubai. Having friends coming from all over the world, they decided that they wanted a destination wedding in a place that would be central to all and give everyone a chance to enjoy a break in a unique destination while celebrating with them. As Katy has Italian origin, she opted for Puglia, Italy. Her search for a destination wedding planner proved to be harder than she expected. She encountered a couple of planners that claimed they didn’t take commissions, but as she was able to contact venues directly, she realised that the prices the planners were giving her were inflated. Disappointed by the experience, she almost gave up with the idea of a destination wedding in Italy, until she came across the UKAWP and then me. I’ll never forget her first email and our first Skype! I had reassure her that the whole not taking commissions was actual true, as she had completely lost faith in wedding planners.
“Since childhood, I wanted a wedding in Italy, where my grandmother was from,” says Katy. “The wedding of my dreams took place in a venue with archways and a staircase, and was whitewashed, or light in colour.” With this in mind, Castello Marchione fit the bill perfectly. “Even seeing it in the distance when we viewed it gave me goosebumps,” Katy says. “As we stepped out of the car I burst into tears of happiness. It was beautiful and we fixed our date then and there.” Living in Hong Kong, planning a wedding in Puglia and inviting guests from all over the world was a bit of a logistical challenge, but Katy and Edward hired destination wedding planner Elisabetta White to make sure everything went smoothly. “She was incredible; I would never have had the fairy-tale wedding without her. We didn’t have to worry about anything on our wedding day, and we were able to relax and enjoy every moment.”

Katy’s advice have for other brides-to-be planning a destination wedding is to take extra time to work out logistics for guests, and be as helpful and knowledgeable about the local area as you can, particularly if guests are travelling outside of their comfort zone. Also she recommends not to be disheartened if some people don’t make it, and also embrace the traditions of your location rather than getting caught up trying to stick with home traditions because they’re familiar.
