Is texting good for business?

Whilst reading the planners lounge article on texting clients it made me ponder what my views were …
My strengths as a planner are in the logistics, I love putting a plan together. I keep all emails and correspondence and I especially know what a client has said and when. I use emails to double check their requests and spellings of guest names.
But over the last couple of years I have noticed some of my younger clients prefer to text, as Debbie says they would think of something late at night and text it over to me. I’ve even had a client text names for invitations before which is always tricky as I have to scan through my texts when proofing the stationery to ensure it is all correct!
I think as planners we sometimes forget just because we work from home, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t set boundaries for our clients. When presenting at WPE in 2011 Siobhan Craven Robins recommends never sending emails after 6pm, even if you are working late night you don’t want to give the impression you are available 24/7
Although the week of the wedding is sometimes ‘all bets off’ so texts and late emails are a regular occurance!

All of my clients send texts, some of them only text and don’t email!
