The UK Alliance of Wedding Planners (UKAWP) has announced a new Facebook Live series, #LetsTalkWeddings, designed to offer direct and interactive wedding planning advice to engaged couples. Hosted on the UKAWP Facebook page by directors Bernadette Chapman and Sandy Moretta, the series will provide brides and grooms-to-be with an opportunity to discuss a wide range of themed wedding planning issues, and to have any questions answered in real time.
The UKAWP is, by its nature, no stranger to helping couples plan their big day. The only membership organisation in the UK dedicated to the wedding planning industry, the UKAWP is best known for its unparalleled database of highly trained and carefully vetted planners, making it easy for engaged couples to find a reliable and safe pair of hands.
UKAWP director, Bernadette Chapman says: “Planning a wedding can be a really overwhelming prospect, so the aim of #LetsTalkWeddings is to demystify some of that process. We’re so passionate about guiding couples through the ups and downs of organising their wedding celebrations, and we’re really excited to be able to do this so directly and create a supportive community for couples getting married in the next year.”
Following the success of the first #LetsTalkWeddings session, which focused on venues, the next event will be hosted on the 21st of May 2016 at 11am and will centre around the difference between in-house wedding coordinators and independent wedding planners.
To get involved with a #LetsTalkWeddings session, couples simply have to click “interested” on the event post on the UKAWP Facebook page and attend the event.
Director Sandy Moretta explains: “This is a really relaxed way for couples to access free guidance from a team of approachable and friendly wedding experts. If there are any burning questions or concerns about a particular area of wedding planning, we hope it will be really helpful for them to get all the advice that they need during these sessions. It is really fulfilling for us to be able to communicate so directly with so many brides and grooms and be part of their big day plans.”

The UKAWP was founded in 2004 by Bernadette Chapman, who recognised the need for a formal organisation for professional wedding planners in the UK. The UKAWP course was the first UK written wedding planning course to be available and remains, to this day, the only UK membership organisation for wedding planners. In 2006, Sandy Moretta from ternevents came on board as a director.
In 2013, by popular demand, a two-year pilot scheme was launched, offering Wedding Supplier Membership to professional suppliers who wish to work closely with wedding planners. The pilot was successful and is now being rolled out more widely.
In 2014, as membership levels and overall activities grew, the Directors appointed 5 Regional Ambassadors from amongst their experienced members around the UK. These Ambassadors support the Directors in membership, training and development in their areas. An Ambassador Special Projects and an Ambassador, Wedding Supplier Members also support the team immensely.
