Meet Associate Planner Member – Sohni Rai Weddings & Events

Thrilled to be able to introduce you with one of our Associate Planner members Sohni Rai Weddings & Events, tell us about yourself Harpinder….
Tell us about your journey into weddings?
Over the last 15 years I have been organising events for friends and family informally. This is because through my corporate career I have been in roles that required me to project manage multiple projects at the same time, not unlike when organising multiple weddings! I decided to combine my love of event planning with project management and thus my company was born
Describe your favourite wedding location (beach / city / country)
My favourite would have to be beach – although I live and work nowhere near a beach unfortunately! I would love to one day be able to work on a beach wedding, creating an aisle with lanterns on either side, leading to a flower arch using tropical flowers in bright colours. The rest of the wedding would be neutral in colours with the occasional pop of colour in the right places. There would be a very relaxed and laid-back feel, with lounge areas to chill out in and a live band playing well into the evening.
Ultimate wedding theme you’d love to be a part of
I would love to be part of a renaissance themed event, there’s just something about that era that is beautiful but on a different level!
What 3 words would clients use to describe you?
Trustworthy, reliable, calm.
How do you unwind?
I like to spend time with my husband relaxing at home, or visiting London with friends, going for lunch and to museums and galleries.
Best piece of business advice given?
“Don’t try to run before you have learnt to walk.” I have really taken that on board and have not rushed into launching my business. I have taken the time I have needed to do this properly by gaining the appropriate training from the UKAWP and other specialist companies.
Tell us something random about you
I once climbed to the top of Mount Vesuvius in Italy, and the views were out of this world! Completely worth it!
