Tell us about your journey into weddings?

I’ve always been a creative soul and have always loved photography. Whilst finishing up my university studies, on route to becoming a Graphic Designer, a friend asked me to photograph his wedding. Certainly not something I’d ever considered, being a shy individual – who up until that point exclusively photographed inanimate objects. I eventually accepted the gig as a bit of fun, and a fresh challenge and their wedding led onto many more enquiries and before I realised it, I’d become a wedding photographer! Honestly, the job found me – but I can’t imagine anything I’d rather be doing some 14 years later. I love that every wedding is a different challenge and I’d love to be still doing it in 14 more years.

Describe your favourite wedding location (beach / city / country)

I’m a country kind of guy, when we’re not shooting weddings we’re usually out in nature exploring the countryside or getting muddy in forests – so any wedding that brings me closer to nature is great. But I don’t really have a favourite – every wedding and wedding location has something unique. It’s always the people that make for a special day over the location, but great people in a great location is hard to beat.

Ultimate wedding theme you’d love to be a part of

Gosh, that’s a tough one! I love any wedding that has a real sense of personality – something that captures who the couple are and what they’re about. I’m deeply curious about humans and their stories – so any wedding that has an interesting way of communicating someone’s personality visually is hugely exciting to me. Outside of weddings I’m a huge fan of Ice Hockey and the National Hockey League, so It’s not really a theme, but I’d love to be a part of an NHL players wedding.

What 3 words would clients use to describe you?

Relaxed, Creative and (I hope!) Helpful

How do you unwind?

Movies. I love watching all kinds of films from big Hollywood blockbusters to inspirational, arty films. Since the birth of my daughter I’ve also found a love for Disney movies – don’t tell my 14 year old self though. 

Best piece of business advice given?

Stop looking at the competition – focus on what you can do better for you and your clients and everything else will fall into place.

Tell us something random about you

I have an extensive collection of hats for the baseball team the San Fransisco Giants – but have zero interest in baseball – in fact, I’ve never seen a game. I just love the ‘SF’ logo as it matches my initials.
