Member Focus – Cassandra June Weddings & Events
Today we are over the moon to introduce you to the lovely Cass, who runs Cassandra June Weddings & Events. Over to you Cass…
How did it all start?
I read an article years ago in the telegraph about the life of a wedding planner and it got me thinking that I would like to do it, so back in 2012 I enrolled in the UKAWP business practicalities and booked my first client through word of mouth – I have always been very creative and I love a spreadsheet!
Do you have a favourite venue?
Not really, no…although I adore venues with beautiful outdoor spaces where we can create events from a blank canvas. I also like to work with suppliers that completely share my passion for exemplary service and ones that have that personal feel.
How would clients describe you?
I wasn’t sure so I asked one! (that’s not cheating is it??) Absolutely not Cass!
‘Warm, friendly, open and honest with views. Wonderfully creative with incredible taste, one of the most reliable, dependable, caring people I know’.
Wedding planner/s you admire?
Matthew Oliver for sure, I met Matt on the Business Practicalities and have so enjoyed following his journey
How do you unwind?
I love to get outside and walk, so good for the soul. And I also love to read, I usually have at least 2 books on the go at any one time!
What themes are you working on for 2017/18?
I am currently working on an autumnal look, classically elegant using the natural elements of the season. I’m going to continue to develop these looks throughout next year, using the season as my main inspiration but with surprise elements thrown in.
What trends are you seeing?
I continue to see a trend in blank canvas venues where couples can create their visions without the restriction of a brown floral carpet! Food continues to be a real fun element from wood pizza vans, pulled pork baps, sharing platters and Mexican inspired hand food.
Next year I think we will see iridescent featured in weddings, think mother of pearl, whimsical, elegant as seen on the catwalks of London Fashion Week.
Dresses will continue to feature 3D floral elements, pale pastel colours, with the addition of capes
What is your signature dish?
I actually love to cook but am not so great at baking except for my Pavlova! I created a deconstructed one with mini pavlova, passion fruit jelly stars, raspberry coulis, fresh raspberries and clotted cream -was delicious!
Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love to design?
Audrey Hepburn – I just adore her classic, timeless style and beauty.
Is the job as glamorous as you thought?
It’s as I thought, not very! Just as well I adore running around, getting stuck in and being really hands on
What is your vice?
A really lovely glass of Merlot.
