Member Focus – David Michael Photography

Today we are delighted to introduce one of our most recent wedding supplier partners, David Michael Photography.

How did it all start?

I first experimented with cameras during my A Level Art studies at school, and from then on have always been taking photos. I used to take photos at gigs and do head shots for actors in my spare time. In 2004 I quit my job in the City to try my hand at being a freelancer, and have been shooting weddings ever since.

Do you have a favourite venue?

I have a soft spot for Hedingham Castle in Essex. It is a really unique and beautiful venue with lost of options for photographs regardless of the weather. I am very lucky to have been a recommended supplier there for over twelve years.

How would clients describe you?

Mostly as a calming influence, and a friendly guy who can get on with anybody.

Wedding planners or suppliers you particularly admire?

I admire anyone who has the courage to pursue a full time career in the wedding industry, and in particular anyone who has made a success of it as it is so highly competitive.

How do you unwind?

I like to spend time with my wife and young daughter, go to see live music, and play my bass guitar.

What trends are you seeing for 2016/17?

Clients seem to be looking for new ways to display their wedding photos, either as wall art or in print format. Digital images on a usb stick no longer seems to be enough.

What is your signature dish?

I’m not the best chef but I make a mean Bolognese, haha.

Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love work on?

Many years ago I was lucky enough to photograph Angela Griffin’s wedding at Babbington House with a guest list full of celebrities which was fantastic. I would have loved to shoot Prince’s wedding to Mayte Garcia in the 90’s, purely because I am and always have been a massive Prince fan.

What is your vice

Sugar. I can’t stop eating biscuits.
