Member Focus – Goose & Berry
Delighted to introduce you to Goose & Berry one of our amazing wedding caterer members, over to you Anna, tell us about yourself….
How did it all start?
It all started in 2012 from a love of delicious, local and seasonal food. We saw a gap in the market for London standard catering in the Home Counties. When I started I cooked, served, drove the van, created the website and planned the events – you name it I did it. Now we’ve grown I’m very fortunate to have an excellent team but I’m still very hands on, so whilst I no longer have to drive the vans, you’ll still see me garnishing canapés!
Do you have a favourite venue?
Our two favourite venues would have to be Hedsor House and the Windsor Guildhall, we love them because of how local they are to us and the beautiful Georgian architecture of both! Each time we find something new that we haven’t noticed before. The Windsor Guildhall and Hedsor have been host to some pretty incredible events, HRH Prince Charles, The Beckhams, King George III and Queen Victoria to name a few…
Not to mention the great in house team at both these venues who are such a pleasure to work with, we couldn’t wish for nicer people to support us!
How would clients describe you?
We are lucky to have so many wonderful clients who leave us amazing feedback, the stand out comments are how friendly and hard working our team are and our ability to deliver so many delicious plates, consistently and quickly!
Wedding planners or suppliers you particularly admire?
We admire the hard work and vision of all the planners we have been fortunate to work with and we are passionate about building relationships with suppliers who have the same values as us. Papakata and Joseph Benjamin Marquees are both stand out contenders for suppliers who really get it right. Papakata’s product and customer service is outstanding and the team at Joseph Benjamin again have an excellent standard of kit and endless clever solutions and designs for every event. I follow Casa de Perrin as US based kit hire co. and find their products and use of colour incredibly inspiring.
How do you unwind?
I love running when I have the time and find it clears your head so it’s my therapy if I need to relax. Failing that, a nice glass of our very own artisan Gooseberry Goose & Berry gin & tonic is perfect for unwinding too… although a little less healthy!
What trends are you seeing for 2019?
We are still seeing a lot of informality at weddings with couples choosing sharing food and food stations, however this year guests are ditching the rustic feel and aiming for a refined smart variation. So super chic food stations, sharing plates of iced Oysters, large plates of beef carpaccio and roasted vegetables with romesco sauce & herbs – all served on beautiful sharing flatware and tables set with textured linen napkins & long stemmed crystal glassware.
What is your signature dish?
We try to change our menus frequently and with the seasons – there’s so much beautiful and interesting new produce being created and developed it would be a shame if we weren’t evolving constantly and making the most of it. Having said that – I absolutely love our simple honeyed figs with goat’s cheese and basil – a version of it has been on our menus from day one and it’s still our most popular canapé chosen by our clients today.
Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love work on?
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas – Their multi day wedding was extravagant, fun and full of love. The Palace, the outfits, that veil and Beyoncé bought a whole new meaning to “Supplier Meals”! I also would have loved to be involved in Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl’s wedding – they’re both insanely stylish and look so genuinely happy with each other… and her dress really was heavenly.
What is your vice?
Definitely working too much… We just can’t seem to get enough of the events life and we’re definitely not complaining.
