Member Focus – Hand in Hand Wedding Planners
So pleased to be able to introduce you to UKAWP Associate Wedding Planner member Hand in Hand Wedding Planners. Planning elegant weddings in beautiful country estates and dry hire venues across Essex, London and the South of England. Over to you Elizabeth.
How did it all start?
With a decade of experience planning and managing international events and planning complex project across Dubai, South Africa, Scotland and London, I’m a self confessed lover of spreadsheets, schedules and folders. This means I will take care of all the logistics and scheduling for your wedding day leaving you free to make the choices that matter. In fact, I love the planning side so much that on my own wedding day my bridal party took it upon themselves to remove my planning folder and replace it with a much more appropriate glass of champagne!
My love of all things planning combines perfectly with my equal love of weddings. I love the stories behind my couples weddings and planning the intricate personal touches that go hand in hand with them which led to the launch of Hand In Hand Planners.
Do you have a favourite venue?
I love that I get to work on many different styles of wedding and get to discover a so many beautiful venues! It’s hard to choose just one but a firm favourite of mine at the moment is Chippenham Park, a magical country house wedding venue on the Suffolk-Cambridgeshire boarder. This privately-owned Grade II listed house, set within 300 acres of stunning parkland and gardens is licensed for up to 120 guests and offers not one but three beautiful ceremony options. It’s hard to choose between them but my absolute favourite is the secluded octagon oak gazebo. Embraced by a circle of yew hedge it’s hard to find a more elegant and romantic summer spot!
How would clients describe you?
I’ve been described as; Tea Enthusiast, Eternal Optimist and Seeker of Sun, Sea and Champagne but my clients in particular would describe me above all as organised and a number one logistical problem solver.
Wedding planners or suppliers you particularly admire?
I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with some fantastic wedding planners since joining the UKAWP – Weddings by Mary has been a huge inspiration since I launched, I always try to tune into Sunday Brunch from The Wedding Planners and I had a dream come true last year working alongside the fantastic Nina from the Occasion Queens and Valentina from The Stars Inside on a very Chic London wedding in one very cool venue!
How do you unwind?
I love to spend time in the great outdoors with my husband and our little beagle puppy, Lottie. Whenever we get time we can be found on a good pub walk with family and friends or even on a camping and hiking weekend enjoying the English summer!
What trends are you seeing for 2020?
I’m loving the trend of more relaxed and natural flowers and the use of added greenery and foliage. Trees, foliage and large naturally styled flower installations are continuing to make a statement and I couldn’t be happier!
What is your signature dish?
Anyone who knows me knows I’m not a huge fan of cooking. If the mood strikes me I can follow a recipe to a T but otherwise it’s pesto pasta or salmon and steamed veggies from me. Luckily my husband is a fantastic cook and I what I lack in cooking I make up for in baking!
Whose celebrity wedding (dead or a live) would you love work on?
I would have absolutely loved to work on Kate Middleton’s wedding to Prince William – growing up abroad there was something very English about celebrating this particular royal wedding, and with Kate’s classical style and a wedding steeped in Royal tradition, I would have relished the chance to work on momentous wedding.
What is your vice?
If it’s winter I can’t say no to dark chocolate paired with a glass of red wine but in the summer it’s all about the champagne or an ice-cold gin paired with fresh summer berries!
