Illy Elizabeth Weddings

Today we are delighted to introduce one of our newest planner members, Illy of Illy Elizabeth Weddings. Over to you Illy…..

How did it all start?

I got to the point earlier on this year, where I thought, I want my own business. I want to work for myself and enjoy my job. Life is far too short to be stuck in an office job all day, I wanted to be out there, working within the wedding industry. Planning my own wedding made me think about how much I enjoyed planning. One thing led to another, and here I am!

Do you have a favourite venue?

Farbridge is my new favourite venue. Located in Chichester, West Sussex it features an absolutely stunning south downs backdrop. The venue also features a wheat field which is perfect for boho-inspired wedding photos.

How would clients describe you?

Very bubbly and smiley but with a great eye for personal touches. My clients love that I love pinterest as much as they do and creating moodboards is one of my favourite things to do!

Wedding planner/s you admire?

Lisa Johnson from Carmela Weddings has helped inspire me throughout my journey setting up my business. She has helped me believe that if she can be successful then anyone else can be as a planner too.

Ela from Bochic Weddings does absolutely beautiful weddings. Her target market is very similar to mine and it’s great to know the industry needs planners in these areas. I admire her style and hope to work with her one day!

How do you unwind?

I’m a lover of meditation and relaxation. If I’m not doing yoga on a Friday evening, I am surrounding myself with lavender and relaxing music. It’s so important to be able to take a half hour out of your day to focus on you and your wellbeing. If all else fails, I’ll cuddle up to my sausage dogs Lilo and Buzz.

What themes are you working on for 2016/17?

I’m looking to do some Nordic themed weddings in 2017 as I know this is going to become really popular next year. A winter wedding would work perfectly for this. I am also looking to bring sophistication to more rustic style weddings in tipees or barns.

What trends are you seeing?

Firstly, Nordic themed weddings. I’m working closely with one of my florist suppliers to create a beautiful styled shoot for next year. Secondly, dried flowers instead of fresh flowers for weddings. It’s a new style and the work I’ve seen from some florists are absolutely stunning. Thirdly. Artisan wedding cakes. More and more couples are choosing naked and artisan cakes as they really do look stunning.

What is your signature dish?

I do the BEST roast chicken dinner. It’s the gravy, my family and friends LOVE it every time I make it. I like to do a side of crushed baby potatoes in olive oil, rosemary and garlic.

Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love to design?

It would have to be the obvious Kim Kardashian if she wasn’t already married. The things you could do with that wedding budget would be spectacular!

Is the job as glamorous as you thought?

If you think getting your feet into some wellies in a muddy field is or putting a trifle together? It can have its perks but honestly, it’s glamourous to me because I love doing it.

What is your vice?

My weakeness is food. Any venue can dangle it in front of me on a piece of string and I’m there! Have you guessed yet I’m a massive foodie?
