Inspired Event Management

Delighted to present to you  Jenny, Of Inspired Event Management, one of our professional wedding planners with over 20 years experience based in Suffolk. Tell us about yourself Jenny..

Tell us about your journey into weddings?

From an early age I worked in hospitality, initially with Saturday jobs in pubs and summer holiday jobs at Wimbledon, Henley, Ascot etc.  This led me to studying towards a degree in Hotel and Catering and in particular focussing on Catering.  Stints with the well known bespoke caterers, Mustard, in London, and also Queen of the Canapés in the 90’s, Lorna Wing Ltd., as well as working as part of the catering team at Buckingham Palace and other Royal Residences, led me to my love to creating truly exceptional events with a huge amount of attention to detail.

When I got married over 20 years ago and moved from London to Suffolk, I set up Inspired Event Management which offers a tailor-made wedding and party planning service.  Most of my work comes through word of mouth which is a testament to the high quality service I offer my clients, guiding them through the planning process, with their best interests at heart both from a practical and financial point of view.  I never take commission and if I am offered discounts throughout being in the industry or having developed an especially good relationship with a supplier, I pass these onto my clients.

I love working with brides to plan their special day or often, celebrations lasting over several days.  I am happy to help clients find venues and have even more experience of planning events in marquees, bringing in and managing all facilities from staff and guest loos to generators, lighting and heating, guest accommodation and transport etc., to inspiring clients with ideas for design and style within the party setting.

Describe your favourite wedding location (beach / city / country)

A rural location, overlooking a river, facing West, and reaping the benefit of a gorgeous sunset as guests enjoy pre-dinner drinks.

Ultimate wedding theme you’d love to be a part of

One of my favourite party themes is that of an Austrian/Bavarian style celebration.  I have helped several clients over the years, including a celebrity with this theme.  I would love to create a similar themed wedding – which is yet to happen!  So many iconic props, furniture, food, themed decorations, music – all of which would create such a memorable wedding for someone with a similar love of the mountains!

What 3 words would clients use to describe you?

How do you unwind?

I love playing tennis, road biking (when I have time), singing – I have just performed at Latitude, skiing in the winter, and walking the dog along Suffolk’s coastal paths and beaches!

Best piece of business advice given?

I always create a spreadsheet of possible costs for all potential clients, which I present together with a proposal.  For some clients who are working to budget, I keep a particularly close eye on this during the months of planning, and the best business advice I give them is on where to cut corners without overly affecting their day.  As a bride or groom it is often difficult to separate out what they dream of/think is essential (and may cost a lot of money) with what will really add to the day in the overall bigger picture.

Tell us something random about you

I have appeared on the TV programme, Top Gear!
