Member Focus: Maria Kirk

Today I’m delighted to introduce one of our new members, Maria from Pazazz Weddings who is based in Sussex.

Why did you become a wedding planner?

I absolutely love weddings! I have so much passion, enthusiasm and energy when it comes to wedding planning and being a wedding planner is a dream come true for me! After planning my own wedding and several weddings for my friends and relatives I discovered my passion for wedding planning and knew that this was the only career for me!

What’s your USP?

My enthusiasm, passion and drive I also pride myself on my ability to create flawless luxury weddings for my clients. I strive to provide an outstanding service to every client, with a view to save them time, stress and money. I also offer a vast range of Complimentary services for our clients.

What’s your signature dish?

If I had to choose my best dish it would have to be stuffing! I have a secret recipe that has been passed down from my Grand Mother to my Mother and then to me, and it is has to be the best stuffing around!

Do you have a favourite venue?

My favourite venue at the moment has got to be Leeds Castle. This is a fabulous castle, very picturesque with beautiful grounds, a lake and several swans. It really is a fairy-tale venue.

How would your clients describe you?

My clients would describe me as calm, enthusiastic and creative. I am also a perfectionist and therefore pay very close attention to every detail.

Have you ever had a challenging client and how did you deal with it?

So far I have been lucky and have not had any challenging clients. I feel that a client would usually only be challenging the wedding that I am planning, does not suit the vision of her perfect wedding day. If that was the case then I would arrange a meeting with the bride and groom to ask what they would like changed. It is their wedding and therefore they have the final say in what is included in the wedding.

If you could plan a celebrity wedding (alive or dead) whose would it be?

I would have loved to plan the wedding of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt. Jennifer is elegant and one of my idols and I should think that they would be an absolute pleasure to work with.

Is the job as glamorous as you thought?

I never thought that this would be a glamorous job so it the fact that this isn’t a glamorous job wasn’t a shock to me! A great deal of my time is spent with working with administration and finances which luckily has always been one strong points.

Which wedding planner’s work do you respect/admire and why

I really admire the work of Siobhan Craven-Robins and Mark Niemierko as they have built their businesses to such an extent that they now attract celebrity clients. I also admire the work of and creative flair of Erika Unbehaun who is the owner of Flutterfly Events, her work is very inspirational.

What’s your biggest achievement since launching?

Becoming a member of UKAWP is easily my biggest achievement so far.

What is your vice?

Chocolate! My philosophy is that chocolate solves everything!
