Member Focus – My Fabulous Wedding Band
Today we would like to introduce you to one of our recent Wedding Supplier Members, My Fabulous Wedding Band. Over to you Mel…..
How did it all start?
Over many years of dinner conversation! We’re a husband & wife team – Brad has a background in the recorded music industry, looking after the likes of Tom Jones and Jools Holland. He’s been running LM2 Entertainment (parent company of My Fabulous Wedding Band) for the last 10 years. I come from the world of corporate marketing strategy, and after having our 2 boys, decided to join Brad in his business in 2012. We were passionate about launching a live music destination for the chic, discerning bride & groom… and so My Fabulous Wedding Band was born.
Do you have a favourite venue?
Ooo, tricky… We work with all sorts of venues – from castles to stately homes to top hotels – some of the most prestigious venues in the country. But seeing as you’re asking, I do have a soft spot for a glamorous Art Deco venue. Somewhere like Claridge’s or the Bloomsbury Ballroom makes me come over all Daisy Buchanan.
How would clients describe you?
Our brides & grooms always fall in love with Brad – he has such a friendly, easy going manner, whilst being uber-efficient & professional to a T. We get some seriously amazing client testimonials about our customer service because of him. I like to think of myself as the voice of the sassy, stylish bride in the field of live music – which can be rather male dominated, and not very in tune with the world of weddings. Our clients like that we talk their language – I think they feel ‘heard’.
Wedding suppliers you particularly admire?
I love a good wedding brand, and I think Peggy Porschen has created a really gorgeous one – from her Belgravia parlour, to her Academy, to her online Gift Shop, I think she has taken her brand in many directions and demonstrates real entrepreneurialism.
How do you unwind?
Our kids are a real tonic at the end of a busy day – they show us so much love & affection, it never ceases to amaze me. If all else fails, a large glass of Merlot after hours usually does the trick!
What trends are you seeing for 2014?
The rise of the Wedding Festival has seen our bands playing in a lot of tipis, yurts, marquees and tents this year. We’ve seen some seriously cool weddings.
What is your signature dish?
I’m partial to a bit of baking – and I do a pretty mean passion fruit pavlova!
Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love work on?
Michael Buble’s wedding last year to Luisana Lopilato. He’s the consummate entertainer, and as well as having super cool music, I reckon their wedding would have been quite a riot!
What is your vice?
See ‘wedding suppliers I admire’ and ‘signature dish’… anything naughty but nice!
