How did it all start?
I have always been the chief organiser among my family and friends and was often asked to plan and organise parties, events and weddings. I started doing it over 10 years ago. It was also my plan to make it more “official” and branch out. So I decided to brand myself a couple of years ago (it has changed a few times!), now here I am as Soniamarie Loves.
Do you have a favourite venue?
How would clients describe you?
Fun, outgoing and passionate.
Wedding planners or suppliers you particularly admire?
There are so many people who I admire that it is hard to choose between them. I actually admire anyone in the industry how has had the guts to take a leap of faith and start their business. It is not easy. Passionate, personable and professional people are the ones who get my admiration the most. I am very blessed to have quite a few of them around me.
How do you unwind?
I love spas. I also love jumping on a plane at the last minute and go overseas for a few days. Oh, I cannot forget my mani pedi ritual every month either!
What trends are you seeing for 2019?
I am seeing more people doing it for themselves and following their own tastes and style rather than doing the traditional carbon copy wedding.
I think there will be more use of bold colours, more boho style weddings and more outlandish entertainment.
What is your signature dish?
I make a mean Bailey’s and white chocolate cheesecake. It is very rich, boozy and delicious. I am very well known for it!
Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love work on?
I would have loved to have worked on Megan Markle’s wedding only because it consisted of what they wanted and didn’t follow all of the traditions. I love couples who want to do it for themselves, their way.
What is your vice?
Hmm not sure. Maybe expecting food everywhere I go and eating during meetings. (shame on me!)
