Member Focus – Your Wedding Your Way

Well now, we have been waiting for this for years – only kidding – delighted to introduce Laura of Your Wedding Your Way whom we have known for some years, and who has supported our events for ages. Recently she decided to become a member and we couldn’t be happier. Welcome and over to you to tell us about yourself and Your Wedding Your Way…
How did it all start?
Back in 2011 I got married and after a 3 year engagement, I ended up a little wedding obsessed. I decided on my honeymoon that I wanted to remain involved in the wedding industry so settled upon planning and came up with the name while sunbathing. When I got home I did some research, booked onto a UKAWP course which happened to be about 2 weeks later, went to the Mix and Mingle and I was hooked. If there were that many people making it as wedding planners, then I was going to too and I did!
Do you have a favourite venue?
I love Northbrook Park and have worked there a few times now. Both rooms are so bright and airy and the walled garden is divine. I also love Kevington Hall which is local to me and a bit of a hidden gem. It has beautiful rooms, lots of land and even a yurt area which you can hire out the next day for an after party!
How would clients describe you?
Calm, helpful, organised, approachable and friendly.
Wedding planners or suppliers you particularly admire?
So many! I could go on for days! I love what Lisa Johnson is doing at the moment with her coaching as well as planning. Andri (Benson) has always been one to look up to as well as Sandy (Moretta), Aimee (Dunne), Louise (Perry), Elisabetta (White)… I could go on! All totally different styles but all fab in different ways.
How do you unwind?
I have various ways to unwind. Either I sit in the hot tub in the garden with a glass of bubbly, music on and no phone or I go out dancing and drinking cocktails and let my hair down.
What trends are you seeing for 2017/18?
Metallics are still popular, as are geometric designs. Classic, timeless and elegant weddings are still the most popular for the majority of my couples though.
What is your signature dish?
I don’t really tend to cook so don’t have a signature dish as such. I do bake though; my brownies and cupcakes usually go down quite well!
Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love work on?
This is a tricky one. Pippa Middleton and James Matthews’ day would have been amazing to be involved in. I have always loved the Middleton’s style and this was no exception. A classic, garden wedding on a huge scale!
What is your vice?
Afternoon tea! I am obsessed! You will often see my Instagram feed spammed with a 3 tier cake stand, clotted cream covered scone or me with a glass of bubbles. Oh and shopping, either online or a trip around the shops. Clothes, shoes, handbags and homewares are my main weak points!
