Member Focus – White Sage Events

Today we are very excited to introduce you to Claire of White Sage Events: our first Destination Member in Ireland…..

How did it all start? I worked for another wedding planner here in Ireland. I then took some time out of the industry, got married, did some formal training (including an awesome UKAWP weekend course!) then launched November 2011.

Do you have a favourite venue? I enjoy working with Ballyvolane House ; great staff, great food, a step ahead of clients requirements the whole time.

How would clients describe you?  Energetic, warm, personable.

Wedding planner you admire?  Mark Niemierko, a total perfectionist in what he does.

How do you unwind? Weekends away with my husband, lunch and proper belly laughs with friends, pilates when I’m being good, a chilly glass of white wine, chocolate and a trashy magazine when I’m being bad.

What themes are you working on for 2012/13?  We’re seeing outdoor ceremonies more and more here in Ireland so my focus is on venues, suppliers and props that can make this happen.

What trends are you seeing?  A resurgence of glamourous sparkly weddings. Shiny things everywhere! Less of the shabby, much more of the chic.

What is your signature dish? It changes all of the time, right now it’s paella…such an easy tasty dish and tastes better the next day heated up.

Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love to design? Grace Kelly & Prince Rainier, Jackie O & JFK, Kate Moss & Jamie Hince, …I could go on!

Is the job as glamorous as you thought?  Having worked with another planner, I always knew planning wasn’t a glamourous job, you leave the glamour to your clients. Yes it is nice to work with amazing venues but you’re not the one sipping champers taking it all in; you’re the one on your hands and knees putting white chalk on the end of the bride’s dress because she has scuffed it walking across the lawn! That said, I love what I do and thoroughly enjoy it.

What is your vice? Right now its Shellac manicures…addicted!
