Member Focus – One Curious Dream
Thrilled to introduce you to One Curious Dream, one of our wedding planner members based in Norfolk. They are an award-winning wedding planning, styling and prop hire company who produce unique, relaxed, beautiful weddings for couples who want to have fun and show their guests a damn good time! Over to you Jo…
How did it all start?
Coming from a corporate background and a very serious day job, I had the opportunity to moonlight at weekends and help a friend deliver some seriously awesome weddings. Using my organisational skills, coupled with unleashing some hardcore creativity was the perfect antidote to my 9-5 world and I was soon bitten by the wedding bug! Making the decision to leave my ‘safe’ life behind and embark on a new adventure was actually a no brainer – I love what I do and wish I had made the leap of faith years and years ago!
Do you have a favourite venue?
So many! Working across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridge and London means we are lucky enough to work in some incredible venues – my favourites always tend to have lots of open space, beautiful spots for outdoor ceremonies and blank-canvas areas to style up a storm!
How would clients describe you?
Approachable, highly organised, down to earth with a wicked sense of humour. We work incredibly closely with our clients and really to take the time to get to know them – we are incredibly invested in the weddings we plan so by the time they arrive, we’re like one of the family! Many of our clients keep in touch after their big day which is really lovely.
Wedding planners or suppliers you particularly admire?
Too many amazing people to name, but in general, I always have a love for anybody shaking things up a little, innovating the industry or just throwing something different into the mix.
How do you unwind?
I love to spend time with my lovely hubby and two beautiful cats, Archie and Max. Out of season, I love to travel and head off the beaten track. I’m an explorer at heart and naturally curious about the world so I love meeting new people across the globe and finding hidden places to spend time in.
What trends are you seeing for 2019?
For our clients, personalisation is key. Finding blank canvas, dry-hire spaces that allow couples to let loose and have their day exactly how they choose is still top of the list and won’t be going out of fashion any time soon. We’re finding more of our weddings are breaking the traditional 1 day mould with lots of our couples opting for a full weekend of celebrations. This year we’re also seeing lots of quirky touches – anything from food trucks, silent discos and glitter bars through to grazing stations and even an all night dance tent. Ace!
What is your signature dish?
I make a MEAN pizza – homemade dough, chunky tomato sauce, gooey mozzarella and a ton of basil. What could be better?!
Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love work on?
Beyonce and Jay Z – no brainer.
What is your vice?
REALLY milky tea – I drink it by the bucket load!
