Today we introduce the third post in our series explaining our different forms of Membership and take a look at Destination Membership.

We introduced Destination Membership a couple of years ago as the number of UK couples looking to marry abroad was growing and we wanted to be able to introduce them to professional, like-minded wedding planners in their destination markets.

Who can apply?

Wedding Planners can apply for Destination Membership if they have been in business for at least one year and can provide details of clients and suppliers to whom we may go for references.

Destination Membership is the appropriate Membership type for those who only plan weddings outside the UK. If planners also plan UK weddings, they would apply for Associate Membership or Membership Level One.

What are the other criteria?

Destination Members must meet all the same criteria as UK based Members including adherence to our Code of Business Practice, use of legally binding client contracts and keeping their Public Liability Insurance up to date.

I am based in the UK but plan weddings abroad – can I apply?

Yes, provided you only plan weddings outside of the UK, it doesn’t matter whether you are based in the UK or abroad.

How do I apply?

The application form for Destination Membership is a very simple, online form.

What are the benefits?

There are many benefits to Membership, all of which you can find listed in our Membership Brochure, however they key benefits include:

• listing on our site in the country, or countries, you plan weddings in
• ongoing bride facing advertising campaign (this alone can save Members several hundred pounds per annum)
• many PR opportunities (we are the first port of call for much of the media and we send all Members media requests)
• private LinkedIn and Facebook groups for Members to help each other out away from public social media
• reduced rates for all events and training.

Are Destination Members part of the UKAWP Membership Points System?

Currently no. Whilst we build a presence outside the UK we want to keep it simple, however over time, with a critical mass of Members in particular markets, we may introduce our points scheme.

How much does it cost?

Destination Membership is £175 per annum.
