Back in November the UKAWP Directors spoke at the inaugural UK Wedding Venues Marketing Conference in the lovely City of York.

The Conference was organised by Martin Evans of The Tourism Business at York Racecourse.

Predominantly targeted at Wedding Venues, the Conference was useful to all those involved in trying to drive more wedding business to Venues, with the delegate list including Registrars, Marketing Companies, Events Groups and, of course, lots of in-house coordinators and other representatives of Venues themselves.

We spoke about the work of wedding planners, how UKAWP planners work and the opportunities for Venues across the UK to work with, and promote themselves to, wedding planners.

We were thrilled to be asked a lot of pertinent questions and to have the chance to speak with such an interesting and focussed group of people, all keen to establish the best possible working practices and methods of attracting and booking their target couples. Many were keen to start a dialogue with their local UKAWP members to learn how best to work together.

We were inspired by many of the other speakers who covered an eclectic range of topics, including  online marketing, ‘winning show rounds’, attracting couples from abroad, same sex marriages and ‘spa-tastic’ weddings, to name but a few.
