Wedding Planners Skills for Success: Creativity

Becoming a wedding planner is not something you can entirely learn from a course, a lot is to do with personality and personal attributes. There is no escaping the fact that having some life experience and maturity helps in this job. You need to think on your feet and offer solutions at a drop of a hat.

2. Creativity (“producing or using original and unusual ideas”)

A huge part of the job now is wedding design. From your initial consultation you can suggest themes to the client by creating a mood board then sourcing the appropriate props and fabrics to bring that theme to life. A certain amount of creativity is needed to interpret themes and ideas. It is worthwhile investing in some design books to understand more about how certain colours and fabrics can work well together. You may also decide to enroll on a floristry or interior design course to complement your wedding planning.
