WPE15 Speaker Focus – meet Dominique Douglas of Stylish Events
If you have been practicing as a wedding planner for a little while, you might have come to the point in your career where you’re now thinking of hiring extra help. The technicalities of taking on staff, whether on an internship program, on specific occasions or on a more permanent basis, are quite complex and have implications, one of which is whether you have enough desk space for a bigger team and whether you should look for a new office space.
Requests for internships have also been flooding in, so we know many of you will be considering getting some extra help in the next few months. And that is why we have decided to include this topic, “Growing your business by taking on a team” at the next Wedding Planning Excellence.
Melanie Kiani of Bellissimo Weddings (introduced on our blog just a few days ago: here) and Dominique Douglas of Stylish Events are two our most senior UKAWP members, who not only work from a dedicated office space, but they also hire assistants and interns on a regular basis.
During their session we will learn the legal and practical ins and outs of taking on staff – from short-term interns to full time employees – and they will discuss the implications of securing an office space so that you can decide for yourself whether it is the right next step for you.
