Marketing yourself with purpose deserves serious consideration, dedication and discipline.This is true in the early stages of your wedding planning career, but it’s just as important if you have been running your business for several years. In an industry as competitive as ours, standing out from the crowd isn’t always easy – between colleagues that come from a marketing background and those who employ marketing and PR specialists, you can often feel as if everyone else is attracting a lot more attention and securing more clients than you do. Marketing methods are constantly evolving too, so it is paramount that you keep up to date with marketing trends, but more importantly, understand the key principles to marketing yourself to your ideal clients effectively.

We felt this is a topic that deserves to be covered at the next Wedding Planning Excellence (WPE), so we have brought on board specialists who will be talking to us about two aspects that are instrumental to marketing yourself successfully:

• “Selling through storytelling: How to write and share your business’ story and connect with clients” – held on 28 November, 11am, by Nicola Rae-Wickham from The Social Stylist
• “Pursuing the press: Innovative ideas to showcase your expertise and get on editors’ radar” – held on 28 November, 2.45pm, by Laura Birkitt

Both Nicola and Laura have a background in marketing and publishing respectively, and will be drawing from their own experience to teach us key points that every successful wedding planner should apply: from identifying your own unique brand story and dialing up your content marketing, to leveraging print and online media to put yourself in front of potential clients.
