Wedding Planning Career: Learn how to plan and design a wedding

30 November, 2015

If you have newly launched as a wedding planner, or indeed wish to launch you might at times find yourselves second guessing key information for your clients wedding. Just where do you find that dream venue for your couple, how can you trust the suppliers you hire or perhaps you wonder how many catering staff are needed to serve guests proficiently? If so then our “Step by Step” course could be ideal for you as it takes students through how to plan a wedding like a professional.

We go through how to create a client budget and work out what % of the budget should go on certain areas. We advise how to create payment plans for clients and what to do if you have a client bank account. We show you examples of the different ceremonies in the UK and how etiquette plays a part in today’s weddings, albeit in a modern way. Then its time to discuss suppliers from how to find them to what questions to ask. The final part of the weekend takes you through the day from the ceremony up until the evening entertainment.

What makes this course extra special is our wonderful #SBScontributors, leading experts in the industry who have reviewed and edited the content relevant to their sector. You can meet some of these suppliers by reading more about them here.

We have just one course left for 2015 which is Step by Step on the 5th & 6th December in Northamptonshire. After this the next one won’t be until March 2016.

WPE2015 Speaker Focus: meet Louise Beukes

25 November, 2015

Two more days to WPE! We couldn’t be more excited to meet you all at the fabulous Millbridge Court on Friday and/or Saturday!

As you know we have introduced all of the speakers on the blog over the course of the last two months (if you’ve missed the series and you’d like to get to know your speakers before the seminar, just type in WPE2015 in the search field of this page and the blog posts will pop up); there is, however, a last minute change, as the lovely Michelle Kelly of Pocketful of Dreams is no longer able to present. We are sad Michelle won’t be able to join us, but also thrilled that the lovely Louise of Styled by Louise and editor of wedding and lifestyle blog BLoved has been able to step in.

As per the original schedule, Louise will cover the topic:

“Killer content - How to market your business through social media & blogging: Learn how a consistent social media presence, including collaborating with established wedding bloggers, will help you stand out in today’s crowded online marketplace.”

Drawing from her experience as a stylist and blogger, Louise will give us her fresh perspective on how to use blogging and social media as her platform to promote our businesses.

We look forward to finding out Louise’s top tips and mingling with her at lunch time.

See you all on Friday!

In just over a week planners from across the UK will be attending “Wedding Planning Excellence”. Our well-established and dedicated seminar for wedding planners with a handpicked programme especially designed to increase your knowledge.

Our program is full of insightful and helpful advice to help planners define the areas they can improve on and give them the tools to push their business to the next level. The level of speakers we have attending is phenomenal and some are even flying from overseas especially.

This year we are being hosted by the beautiful Millbridge Court Wedding Barn (Frensham Rd, Surrey, GU10 3DJ), which we secured via the lovely Emma of Coco Wedding Venues, a fantastic resource for wedding venues searches.

Lunch on both days is being catered by Kalm Kitchen including a dinner on the 27th at Millbridge Court. On the 28th November Caper & Berry are hosting a dinner at nearby Loosley Park

We have devised the two days so that planners can choose to attend one or both days depending on their level of experience and years in the business.

WPE2015 Speaker Focus: meet Kelly Chandler

We are nearly there! Wedding Planning Excellence is in just over a week, plans are being finalised, speakers are ready (some are even flying in from overseas!). We are truly looking forward to spending a couple of days being inspired by some of the best, and walking away feeling positive, fully recharged and ready for the new season.

Sadly all good things come to an end, and so does our Speaker Focus series - today we’re introducing you to the last (but definitely not least) of our speakers, Kelly Chandler of The Bespoke Wedding Company, who’s held a position of Directorship with the UKAWP, alongside Bernadette and Sandy, for seven years, and has been running her own wedding planning and consulting company for 12 years.

Kelly has worked with all sorts of clients on a number of challenging projects - she has, therefore, developed the kind of experience that makes her the best person to talk to us about the one subject no one ever talks about: “When nuptials turn nasty”

If you are relatively new to the industry, you often feel like you want to book every client that comes your way. Our helpful nature makes us want to do everything we can to keep clients happy, but the truth is, sometimes not all clients have affinity with us, and not all weddings go according to plans. When that happens, feelings of frustration can come across the wrong way, with difficult emails being exchanged resulting in us feeling increasingly overwhelmed.

Through this session held on Friday 27th at 2.30pm, Kelly will discuss how to deal with challenging clients and testing projects, ensuring we stay true to our business values and still get the job done.

If you haven’t met the “queen of calm” yet, this is your chance to come and learn from one of the finest planners the UK has to offer. For now, here’s a summary of who Kelly is, what makes her heart skip a beat, her biggest achievement, and her favourite quote (which, apparently, was given to her by our Director, Bernadette, as a Christmas present - we love those words!)

If you haven’t booked your seat, there is still a chance to do so. Head over to the registration page and take that one step towards your personal and business growth that your deserve.

Investment is £375 (£325 for UKAWP members) for each day or £675 for both days, and it includes all presentations and course notes, food and refreshments.

We are looking forward to welcoming you at WPE!
