I loved it when……

2 December, 2013

Today we continue our ‘I loved it when..’ series, in which we ask our member wedding planners to recount either something they found wonderful at one of their weddings, or the thing they have seen most in year. Today we welcome Nikki Foster input.

What’s been the most beautiful / ‘wow’ wedding thing you’ve seen this year at a wedding?

For me it has to be this phenomenal Pergola. Our Bride wanted flowers in abundance and an overriding feeling of romance, but she wasn’t sure how to capture this with amore ‘current feel.

We suggested that this Pergola be created for their outdoor blessing and it became the backdrop of many of their photographs. We provided our ideas to our chosen florist and she got to work, recreating our vision perfectly.

Earlier in the year we began our ‘I loved it when..’ series, in which we ask our member wedding planners to recount either something they found wonderful at one of their weddings, or the thing they have seen most in year. Today we welcome Kelly Chandlers input.

What’s been the most beautiful / ‘wow’ wedding thing you’ve seen this year at a wedding?

I really loved the lighting which Wise Productions installed at one of my weddings over at Stoke Place. The gorgeous leaf pattern in a rich amber & orange wash, just became stronger and bolder and was simply magical when it was dark. Teamed with the hanging voluminous gypsophilia balls, teardrop globes and twisted manzanita branches designed by Euphoric Flowers, it took my breath away, as it did for my couple. It was quite a logistical project to get the install details right but it was totally unique and worth it.

What’s been the most romantic/loving gesture you’ve seen at a wedding this year?

Well a lot of my couples aren’t really romantic gesture people but for one particular party-loving couple, it would have been the groom carrying the bride up to their bedroom, helping her unpin her hair, laying out her dress (beautifully apparently), tucking her into bed and then returning to the party!

Earlier in the year we began our ‘I loved it when..’ series, in which we ask our member wedding planners to recount either something they found wonderful at one of their weddings, or the thing they have seen most in year. Today we welcome Lindy Dowling‘s input.

What has been the stand out theme common to all your weddings and clients this year?

It has to be dessert tables/candy stations. They have been ever so popular from the smallest to the largest budgets, it is a really cute way of incorporating a fun element into the wedding day. They never fail to impress guests of all ages too!

I personally am a big fan as it gives the bride and groom a chance to really bring out their personalities in the choices that they make.

I love it when ……

28 June, 2013

We asked our members what they love about the weddings they work on and the clients they work with. Today Isabel Smith gives us her thoughts….
What has been the stand out theme common to all your weddings and clients this year?
“I love it when clients are willing to really invest thought and budget in the table and service ware details. For such a long time, stationery and flowers were all brides thought about. Now, it is easier and easier to show clients how upgrading to specialist linen, interesting glassware shapes, coloured charger plates and even dining tables and chairs can lift a ‘pretty’ wedding to a stunning event! Menu tastings are my absolute favourite meetings - a great opportunity to collate a wide range of service ware options and play with them to find the very best combination to achieve the look the client loves!”

Most wedding planners choose this career because they love people and especially people in love, they also get a thrill from investigating something elusive or unique for clients. So here at the UKAWP we thought we would chat to our members and ask them a range of questions in a new series called “I loved it when

What has been the stand out theme common to all your weddings and clients this year?

Outdoor ceremonies have been the request this year. And given our inclement summer weather, it was a miracle that I managed to give all couples their outdoor ceremonies!

Outdoor ceremonies are wonderful for rustic/vintage/earthy weddings. If you would like an outdoor ceremony it’s important to have a contingency plan in place in case you have to move it indoors. I remember one wedding where I spent the morning counting clouds!

What’s been the most beautiful / ‘wow’ wedding thing you’ve seen this year at a wedding?

I planned a coastal outdoor ceremony for a sweet American couple on a cliff in the fishing village of Howth, Co Dublin. The backdrop of sweet heather, blue sea and sky, seagulls and sheer cliff rock was simply breathtaking.
