Gold & Glamour by Something Blue Weddings

19 January, 2016

When Gemma Sutton asked me to be part of this Gold & Glamour styled wedding photoshoot at Botley’s Mansion I was delighted. It was the most incredible shoot to work on with some of London’s top wedding professionals.

My brief was to create a glamorous gold tablescape for the shoot. A gold wedding can be chic and stylish but it can so easily become tacky! I really wanted to incorporate the vintage glamour trends which are so prominent in fashion at the moment with sequins being the leading aspect of the trend.

To create a stunning table I’m a big believer in levels, you need to mix heights to have the wow impact in my opinion. The large floral centrepiece from Jay Archer dominated the centre and I wanted to bring in some unusual shapes to create some interest to the table. I did this by contrasting the modern hexagonal candle holders from Classic Crockery with the timeless gold candlesticks and vintage table name frame which I sourced from eBay. The cake from Willow & Bloom reflected the opulence of the venue perfectly with modern hues of gold glitter to tie in with the table. Calligraphy always adds a touch of glamour and the wonderful Judy Broad agreed to create a suite of stationary and escort cards to complement the look. Even more delightful is that it’s also featured in the February / March edition of You & Your Wedding Magazine.

WPE Partner Focus

2 December, 2015

Last week saw the return of the Wedding Planning Excellence seminar (WPE 2015) for the 5th time. Held over 2 days at Millbridge Court in Surrey, WPE 2015 gave wedding planners the opportunity to learn from a variety of inspirational speakers and network with like-minded planners.

The seminar proved to be a huge success and was made possible by the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners’ (UKAWP) organising committee, guest and Alliance speakers, and a team of WPE partners who were instrumental to the running and aesthetics of these two days. Over the next week or so we will show you more images and video of our wonderful speakers and our partners’ work, but for now just a sneak peek….

This year’s WPE partners included Millbridge Court and Kalm Kitchen, Hannah Duffy Photography, Adrian Stone from The Dreamcatchers, Jay Archer Floral Design, Ananya Cards, Stressfreehire, Loseley Park and UKAWP supplier member Caper & Berry.

Millbridge Court (see tablescape above) provided the perfect setting and the in-house team, headed up by Laura Harvey, certainly pulled out all the stops alongside Kalm Kitchen whose exquisite menus, creative displays and friendly service made the seminar truly exceptional.

Hannah Duffy, an experienced wedding and event photographer based in Cambridge, joined us for both Friday and Saturday’s programmes, capturing all of the action including our networking dinners.

On Day 2, Adrian Stone from The Dreamcatchers was on hand to film the highlights of the day including our stellar line-up of speakers and dinner at Loseley Park.

We’ll be featuring the beautiful imagery from Hannah and film from Adrian shortly but in the meantime head on over to Instagram, Twitter and Facebook where you’ll be able to see some sneak peeks under the hashtag #WPE2015.

We’re absolutely thrilled that multi-award-winning florist Jay Archer Floral Design provided all of the beautiful blooms and sumptuous arrangements which perfectly complemented and enhanced our vision for the seminar.

Behind the scenes, wedding and event stationer Ananya Cards designed our beautifully bespoke stationery including programmes, name badges and menus, and Stressfreehire provided additional décor and furniture.

Finally, a special thanks to Loseley Park and UKAWP supplier member Caper & Berry who hosted a sumptuous evening of canapés, champagne and gastronomic perfection at the end of Day 2 (see above). The high quality of service from the team at Caper & Berry ensured that the end of WPE 2015 was an evening to remember!

We look forward to sharing more with you soon, including details for the next WPE!

The 2015 London Mix & Mingle Event

9 October, 2015

It was fantastic to see such an amazing turnout for the UKAWP London Mix and Mingle last Wednesday. Thank you so much for joining us to celebrate the end of the 2015 wedding season.

Over 120 wedding planners and wedding industry experts ‘mixed and mingled’ with us for a night of food, drinks, fun and chat!

We would like to thank everyone who participated and made the night a success. Thank you to Jessica Barrie and Altitude London, our hosts for the evening, who provided the cocktails, drinks and canapes and took amazing care of all of us. So many of the participants have commented on how wonderful the venue is and how breathtaking the 360 degree view of the London skyline is.

Blue Sky Flowers dressed the venue with a very modern combination of colours and flowers, plums and purples coupled with hot pink and golds. Stunning!

One of the hot hits of the evening were the badges, provided by Cutture - possibly the most amazing badges we could ever wish for!

GC Couture and their partners Goose and Berry prepared a stunningly creative and incredibly tasty dessert buffet and gorgeous cakes. Our personal favourites were the lemon posset, the blackberry crème brulee, the red velvet cake and the mint chocolate cake.

It was fantastic to see a giant flower wall close up, designed by the lovely ladies from Paper Flower Wedding. Several guests had a “red carpet” moment in front of it.

Another popular background for pictures were the giant #UKAWP light up letters provided by Mighty Fine Entertainment.

Entertainment was provided by The Undercover Monkeys, Timeless Acoustic, a DJ set from Mighty Fine Entertainment and the magician Darren McQuade.

We had a lot of fun in the photo booth from Boutique Booths, here are a few of our favourites, but you can see all of them here. Enjoy!

Thank you to lovely Kate from Kate Nielen Photography for capturing the evening so beautifully and to Mark from Hang the Moon for the video of the Mix and Mingle which is coming soon.

At the end of the evening our guests were treated to a great goody bag with presents from:

Artisan du Chocolat London, Mindful Senses, Abigail Warner, GC Couture and their partners Goose and Berry, and Altitude London, Hush Heath Estate and Winery and Absolutely Wedding Magazine.

And of course as everyone left at the end of the night, they could take home a bag of M&M’s (see what we did there?) for the journey home.

We’ve have already seen so much social network activity around this event! It you would like to join in or see what’s already out there please use #ukawp or #ukawpsocial.
