Member Focus - Loved By Lucie

21 September, 2015

This evening we are delighted to introduce the gorgeous Lucie of Loved By Lucie who tells us all about her passion for the job….

How did it all start?

It started after I did a Law Degree at University and decided I was far more creative than the Law! From there I plunged into working in various events sectors until Loved By Lucie came alive in April this year. I absolutely LOVE what I do and leaving the Law was the best decision I ever made.

Do you have a favourite venue?

I have a bit of a soft spot for barns. I love the fact that you can take a blank canvas and create an individual dream. My favourites at the moment are Almonry Barn in Somerset and our very own new Essex wedding barn with a difference Houchins!

How would clients describe you?

Calm, collected and a pocket friend ….. And that I love a list (or ten).

Wedding planner/s you admire?

Bernadette Chapman. This wonderful lady is my inspiration. Not only is she exceptional in what she does she is also a great friend to me.

How do you unwind?

A long hot bath, surrounded with candles and book…… and NO children!

What trends are you seeing?

2016 is set to see some great trends filtering through. In particular, I am loving the metallics in the form on sequins, rose gold and shimmer; wild flower posies and arrangements creating a more affordable relaxed vibe and with the dresses its all about the “sleeve” and the “deep V neck line” – Gorgeous!

What is your signature dish?

My little girl, Poppy, absolutely loves a spag bol – so I have this dish down to a fine art now.

Whose celebrity wedding (dead or alive) would you love to design?

Audrey Hepburn – I adore her elegance.

Is the job as glamorous as you thought?

Glamorous? Not exactly….. But it is definitely exciting, challenging, creative and I LOVE it!

What is your vice?

Chocolate, candles and bridal magazines!

#SBScontributor Emily & Jo

1 June, 2015

I’m not sure whether you know but many of the chapters included within the Step by Step course have been reviewed by leading experts in the wedding industry. Why? This ensures the information being taught is to a high standard and as relevant as it can possibly be. To us they are known as our #SBSContributors . Today I would like to introduce you to our stationery expert, the wonderfully talented “Emily & Jo”.

How did it all start?

Pretty Much over a birthing ball! Emily and myself met while attending NCT classes back in 2006, pregnant with our respective first children. Our skill sets matched, ideas were mixed and the unexpected immaculate conception of a third child ‘Emily&Jo’ was born.

How do clients describe you?

It’s a pleasure to work with the team at Emily&Jo. Their customer service is efficient, professional, yet friendly and the designs are perfectly contemporary and stylish with room for bespoke touches. We’re delighted to be able to recommend our discerning client base to Emily&Jo.

Kelly Chandler, Wedding Planner, The Bespoke Wedding Company

How do you unwind?

Getting lost within the paintings at the Tate Modern has to be up there with a near perfect Sunday afternoon. Mid week de stress is an early morning, high energy beach bootcamp class, brilliant fun!

What changes have occurred in the stationery industry since you launched?

We offer a quality designed and carefully executed product, on the best boards using the appropriate printing technologies. We work very closely with our clients to realise their expectations, after all it’s a once in a lifetime experience so, when the envelope hits the mat it’s imperative that we have created the correct tone for each and every individual celebration. It has to be right. Over the last 8 years this aim has not changed and will not change. Its the backbone and ethos of our business.

What trends have you seen this year / are working on next year?

Sumptuous and elaborate florals are looking to be huge next year, which is really exciting for Emily&Jo as we love working in conjunction with floral designers to tie in ideas and themes. We are launching a new Star Burst design in the next couple of weeks so watch this space, (totally gorgeous).

  • Bespoke illustrations of wedding venues together with twists on personal family motifs are becoming increasingly popular, a wonderful, timeless keepsake for our clients.
  • Classic typographical designs executed with a contemporary twist always create an impact, fulfilling a niche in the wedding stationery market that many stylish 2015/2016 brides are craving.

What is your vice?

On a Friday, 7.00pm after Brownie / Cub pick up, a large guilt free G&T (made to our local chefs special recipe) perfection!
